Pitching

Last Friday we had what is called a pre-pitch here at the school. We had a chance to pitch ideas for our bachelor films and try out pitching before the actual pitch which is sometime in June. My pitches could have gone better, there's no denying that, but it was great fun and I'm glad I went and did it.

I now have the opportunity to work on my ideas, based on the feedback I received at the pre-pitch or ditch the ideas and come up with brand new ones. Still mulling it over.

Anyway, thought I'd show some pitch material here. The first pitch was Bunto, a story I've had in the back of my head since the first year. It stars a giant childlike forest spirit and a girl made of mist. The major problem I have with this one is that the relationship between the two needs work for the climax to grab the audience. My second pitch was basically a kung fu western. It was called 'The Dumpling'. A lone warrior (kind of a samurai) with a delicious dumpling head finds himself surrounded in a starving backwater town. There would be plenty of action and cool shots. This idea seemed to engage my classmates more than the first, sparking their imaginations. The problem with it is that it could easily just be a halfminute joke which isn't really bachelor film material. So unless I find some way to give it a deeper meaning and story, this could get ditched (for the bachelor pitch, anyway).

Some News

Been awfully busy these last few days, especially today, with the packaging project. I pretty much only stopped to eat and use the bathroom.

I've finished my box, but I don't have the stamina to sit and edit photos right now, so you'll see those later on.

Here's something I did yesterday, though. It's a concept for a thing I'm working on. It was supposed to be a chimney sweep, but looks more like a cowboy sweep to me.

Also, something funny: I posted a comic based on a poem earlier this week, Frog, and the author actually dropped and provided a much better translation, done by one David Keplinger. Scroll down and have a look.

Logo Design

So, this is our first real assignment in Graphic Design. We were told to come up with an organisation based on a few things about consumers and such.

The concept is very rough and posted here more for me, so I can access it on a school Mac, than it is for you. I'll be trying my hand at Illustrator for this.

Blowhole Concepts

Some concepts that I finally got around to doing. I'm making a game with my brother, which I've done before, but this time I really want to finish the thing on time - it's for a contest, of course.

I can't tell you much, mostly because I don't know much at this point - many loose ends, storywise, but I've codenamed the project "blowhole".
