Last Friday we had what is called a pre-pitch here at the school. We had a chance to pitch ideas for our bachelor films and try out pitching before the actual pitch which is sometime in June. My pitches could have gone better, there's no denying that, but it was great fun and I'm glad I went and did it.
I now have the opportunity to work on my ideas, based on the feedback I received at the pre-pitch or ditch the ideas and come up with brand new ones. Still mulling it over.
Anyway, thought I'd show some pitch material here. The first pitch was Bunto, a story I've had in the back of my head since the first year. It stars a giant childlike forest spirit and a girl made of mist. The major problem I have with this one is that the relationship between the two needs work for the climax to grab the audience. Anyway, art:
My second pitch was basically a kung fu western. It was called 'The Dumpling'. A lone warrior (kind of a samurai) with a delicious dumpling head finds himself surrounded in a starving backwater town. There would be plenty of action and cool shots. This idea seemed to engage my classmates more than the first, sparking their imaginations. The problem with it is that it could easily just be a halfminute joke which isn't really bachelor film material. So unless I find some way to give it a deeper meaning and story, this could get ditched (for the bachelor pitch, anyway).

The Saint of Spades
Realized it'd been a whole month since my last post here, so thought I'd better update.
First of all, a gouache painting. The Saint of Spades.
I've had the sketch for this lying around for at least a year. Finally manned up and painted it over.
One of the reasons for my lack of updates might be that I've been very much into my school assignments - they're just a lot of fun :D So I thought I'd post some of my recent exercises here.

Missing Pieces
Another TAW-monkey piece.
The theme was 'Missing Pieces'. The connection to that theme kinda got more and more obscured as I went, but I still like the end result - was fun to do :D

Rotary-Man and a Robot
Hey, so this week at school we were introduced to Photoshop and After Effects. I've had worked with Photoshop a few times before, but still learned a lot and had even more fun. Here's an assignment (a superhero) and a personal thing (a robot) to further explore what we were learning. Masks are super useful :D
We were free to do our own superhero so I did Rotary-Man, a character I'm playing around with every now and then. He's a former sailor with a powerful (possibly alien) device embedded in his chest. The device allows him to dial various traits and attributes either up or down, such as strength, speed, vision, etc.

Some School Work
Finished these the other day.
These assignments are from our second week with Lawrence Marvit, and are mostly about value and rendering as well as composition. A fun week :D
The themes were 'giant monster attacks ancient Greece' and 'space pirate fight'.

Election Poster
This past week the school assignment's been to make an election poster for a Danish politician. I was given the Danish prime minister. It was fun to do, the Danes in the audience should know how fun as they know more about the guy. In short: he'd never choose this poster :D
Oh, by the way, the poster reads 'time for action, time for Løkke'(his middle name).
Cheers!
