Again for TAW-monkey, theme: 'Time Traveler' Far too late did I realize how bad it looks from far away. Kind of a rushed piece so I don't mind too much.

Interesting note: I loved the show 'Seven Days' when I was younger (still do, when I catch it here and there), so I made the top of the cane a (simplified) chronosphere.

Rotary-Man and a Robot

Hey, so this week at school we were introduced to Photoshop and After Effects. I've had worked with Photoshop a few times before, but still learned a lot and had even more fun. Here's an assignment (a superhero) and a personal thing (a robot) to further explore what we were learning. Masks are super useful :D

We were free to do our own superhero so I did Rotary-Man, a character I'm playing around with every now and then. He's a former sailor with a powerful (possibly alien) device embedded in his chest. The device allows him to dial various traits and attributes either up or down, such as strength, speed, vision, etc.

my little book of giant monsters - the second book

Okay, book two, 'my little book of giant monsters. I started off doing a lot of tests on style and subject matter and settled on giant monsters done in a mix of pen, watercolor and collage. This particular book was a lot of fun to do, thinking up names and jokes for each monster, as well as designing each monster. It was a great feeling to work so fast too and late into the night.

And I'll just tell you, it looks really really good in real life, it really does. I'm actually thinking about getting it printed like a proper book, just to try it. As it is, it's quite a beast to read - it's just difficult to turn the pages :D

Oh and you should know that I'm slowly uploading each page to my DeviantArt page, so use the link under the banner to check the monsters out in higher resolution.

Next up: all the other books.

First CHIUstream in a While

Finally had the time to join another live CHIUstream. Been far too long in my opinion. Months no doubt.

Anyway, theme was creepy/cute, and here's what I did. Not the best execution, but I like the idea.

Bobby Chiu is finally interviewing Kei Acedera and the challenge is to draw one's own version of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Don't have as much time to work on it as I'd like, but I think I'll make it. Here's a wip:
